Everyone will be able to view this shortly. We've created an ingame system that provides tips and advice based on what page you are on and your current country state. The idea is to guide new players in the right direction and to provide useful information even for lazy old players.

We're still in the process of building it up and fixing bugs, so please let us know if you have grammar/style suggestions, content suggestions, or if you feel like your country is receiving incorrect or poorly explained advice.

Anyways, I suggest the tutorial should have things spelled out, like Construction Sites instead of CS, for the n00bs that will undoubtedly come flooding into the game when the facebook app goes live. Not everyone's going to spend hours looking over the game's wiki pages just to figure out what a well-known abbreviation means...

I agree - this is extremely cool, but you REALLY need to change the icon. That thing creeps me the fluff out!

Perhaps different icons for different types of information would be useful?

etc, etc, etc. The possibilities for it are actually pretty expansive. You could do them for the 3 items above, plus specific tips w/ individual images.

Overall though, very awesome feature. Will help the facebookers to get more farm la.....erm, I mean enjoy the experience more.

Right now the tips are divided into three categories: military, economy, diplomacy. The faceless military person is just a placeholder, but we don't have any pictures to put there.

I just put together some images for you Slagpit... I made them all so that neither dimension is larger than 48px (the size of the current image).

I went with easily identifiable icons, rather than some kind of avatar. All of the images I based them off of were things that I already owned the commercial rights to, so no fear of legalities.

If you don't want to use them, that's fine. I only spent about 20 minutes on them and didn't spend any money. But I think they're pretty good for the purpose.

Benefits of friends!
Ingame alliances can be crucial to our success. Offensive and defensive alliances send up to 25% of their units to help us with attacking and defending. Research allies send us part of the technology they produce with research labs. Intelligence alliances send us some of their spies to help us with spy operations. Finally, trade pacts allow the sending of foreign aid packages.

There should be a note that all pacts can be used to send FA to other countries. that last line is misleading.

There should be a user preference to turn it off...

Along the lines of advanced gameplay... I agree with dantzig that it should be basic information rather than game theory and actual strategy being shown.

We received a mass message, which means that multiple copies of the same message were sent to our clanmates or to allies or our ally. We can send mass messages if we're the leader of a clan or have more than one ingame ally.


i haven't received any mass messages :o/

right now, we're debugging this info and getting opinions from the community. Once we have some more items added, we'll give different support levels:
-Basic
-Advanced
-Alerts Only
-Off

If alerts includes the same alert about how many turns you can play because of food/money on the advisor page, I will always at least have that turned on.

Could the alerts actually stop a player from making a stupid move without confirmation from the player? e.g. "Playing that many turns will cause you to run out of money or food. Are you sure that is what you want to do?" I think we've all run out of money and/or food before just because of a typo which isn't very noob-friendly. Other ones could be "You are about to destroy over 10% of your buildings, are you sure you want to do this?" and "Are you sure that you want to sell all of your tanks on the PM or did you mean to sell your bushels?"

I agree with Zarc on that one. Even a nub will come to understand to not make those mistakes after he/she has done them a time or two.

Basic tips are very helpful for the new ppl...but too much hand-holding will just make things boring before long. If hand-holding is what they want; then a nub should be joining a clan for that. I actually have a friend that I've finally convinced to play Earth. She's going out on her own in Tourney I believe. I'll have to ask her what she thinks.

Oh..also..If this isn't already included in one of the messages; There should be one about building CSs in multiples of 4 and to always build a full turn's worth of buildings according to what their BPT is. A LOT of new ppl don't know little things like that.

I wish they had a stupid move feature. The other day i sold 600k + turr on the private when i thought i was selling food.

could you move it away from country settings to portal setting? if plays at all servers its alot clicking to disable those.

You say the advice is based on my countrys stats and tyhe page im on, so i just think this was a odd advice to get :

"Watch food and cash
Our explorers stop working if we experience a food or cash shortage. Be certain that we have enough food and cash to fund any exploring that we attempt. "

Might just be a general advice shown when im not close to a exp acre drop ? but im playing a farmer and had about 450mill $ , so regardless of my bushels at hand (582k), i just find it odd, just a memo, not a complain or anything :P

Yea, sometimes it's just generic advice if there's nothing pertinent at the time I believe

there is one piece of advice that i very much appreciate getting from sergeant wilko

when you are dropping land at set end in express, he tells you how much land you may drop before you denude the land of buildings

this is an improvement because the news does not include ghost acres which you have accumulated over the past 24 hours
i found this bit of advice from HAT TOO BIG very helpful
