Er, ghosts do count. But 1008 is your gain before the ghosts, and 1079 is your gain after including them. You only got 71 ghosts, the country you attacked must have been in ghost DR and not had good buildings.

For another way of seeing your attacks, you can look at earthgraphs which shows the number of ghosts gained instead of a total number of acres like eestats.

0 DR is not the same as 0 ghost DR.

DR lasts for 24 hours, or disappears when you make attacks
Ghost DR lasts for 24 hours. And can not go away no matter what, until 24 hours are up. So he can attack his way out of DR but not out of ghost DR.
