thank you Scorba/Dragon for bringing this to my attention. i did look into this and, indeed, we had DR affection coded backwards.

It has now been fixed with immediate effect.

Thanks!

just to clarify. It means that unsuccessful special attacks will not attribute to diminishing returns(dr)

Is this for the attacker, or the defender? So far until now, unsuccessful specials does not remove DR for the attacker, but still adds DR to the defender, and I thought this was intended over the last 2 years.

the intention was to not add dr for the defender. it was to stop the loads of people putting each other into DR with unsuccessful special attacks.

i have no idea why we'd want to disallow an unsuccessful special attack to not attribute to the attacker's dr. can't think of the logic behind it.

So to clarify, unsuccessful specials now remove DR from the attacker, but does not add to the defender? (i.e effect reversed?)

Out of curiosity since this has been this way for all of EE and I THINK in 2025 too, why is it considered a bug and why was it changed? Also considering this was suggested by a bunch of topfeeders/warrers I am a bit leery of it.

Also is this on the alliance server now or no?

Why should clan-mates be able to help DR their own friends with failed hits anyways?

This was definitely needed for solo servers - especially when someone helps fail GS/AB another "friend" into DR so they can get fat and win!

Yes this is obviously the better way for the DR to work

I'm not sure it is better.

Suiciders can now lemming you until you're easy to break. Then a 2nd suicider can come in and farm you since you're in 0 DR.

I would rather have victims be in DR, than out of DR, for the defender's benefit, not the attacker's (i.e, I prefer the old system), which is why I never thought it was a bug to begin with (though it is abused sometimes in Express).

I've seen it abused in alliance as well

this was a bug because it was coded wrong. it should have mimmicked earth 2025 but instead it reversed the effect. i have righted it now and it is live.

it was obviously a bug. what reason would we have for coding it so that unsuccessful special attacks didnt remove dr from the one attacking but added dr to the defender. the only logical reason(which is not one we would have used) is so that as little as 2 players could effectively keep each other in perpetual dr quite easy.

Sure there is a method of exploiting it as it is now, but thats a game change issue. what i did was fix an accidental bug in the code.

seems to me that a few people were aware of the bug but purposely chose not to report it so it would give them an edge. hope you enjoyed it, sorry to have spoiled your fun.

I actually never noticed it didn't remove DR from the attacker.

Everyone was aware that GS's put you into DR if they were failed. Only small clans ever really needed it though so that is the only group that you are hurting with this. It also helps topfeeders out which are the people who reported the bug.

I told you, I would rather have victims be in DR, than out of DR, for the defender's benefit, not the attacker's, thus I never considered it to be a bug. It was a detail that only people that paid attention to the grab returns knew - nobody I knew considered it a bug - it is how it works.

I actually prefered it that way as well. The only reason I mentioned this at all was because it was a part of the game not working like the admins said it was supposed to.

Wow, well fluffing ban all of MD then. We had no idea this was a bug and we have used self-DR as a well coordinated defensive tactic for pretty much every war I have been in since returning in 2011.

This was NOT a "known" bug. If it was, every alliance we used it against to prevent mass-farming would have reported it.

This is a major change, IMHO, to the detriment of the losing side of a war. Ankle-biting just got a hell of a lot harder.

As a matter of fact, better tell pang to fix Boxcar now since Boxcar has always recognized those hits as adding to DR.

Any other alliance site will need to re-program their sites too.

That's what I was thinking. I'm nearly positive we were using it in SKA.

it was common tactic, grab/farm some (fat) country and then get put in dr by some1 in your alliance or by untagged.
Patience: Yep, I'm with ELK and Marshal.

ELKronos: Patty is more hairy.

Gallery: K at least I am to my expectations now.

LadyGrizz boobies is fine

NOW3P: Morwen is a much harsher mistress than boredom....
