2025 is almost here. A lot has changed with gaming and such. People keep suggesting this game is broken and mechanics need to be fixed, and I'm not sure I agree. I agree that some functions can be refined, but I also feel that in order for this game to become something bigger, it needs to change. The game needs to be designed with mobile devices in mind, because that's how you are going to get people back involved. Also, the game needs to get faster. The game is designed for someone to play once a day. I know some people log on multiple times to sell etc, but I think the majority log on once, grab, log off. Speaking from my experience, I really only have to be really active the last couple weeks while we war. The gameplay needs to be sped up. Which probably means reducing the effectiveness of a turn, and giving people 2 or 3 times the regular turn amount.
This "new version" of the game should be separate from the current servers. This new game isn't going to appeal to some old timers. And that's fine. These servers should still be here, and maybe with a new game, it will bring people into the old game.
Again, I don't think the game is broken, but what we are seeing is people who have played this game since the 2000s beginning to get bored because the amount of players has tanked. So people are looking for something else to do. Whether that's holding a grudge from something that happened years ago, or a few goobers making a bro club and having fun at others expense.
I like the game as is, but like I said, I log in once a day and I'm done with it. I like playing chess online. I'd kill myself if I had to wait for the other person to take their time making a move. That's why the options of timed matches are appealing. I think we have to view this game the same. Some people have been running the same builds forever. And that's fine, but how many times can you try to get frogger across the street?
Be gentle.
