2025 is almost here. A lot has changed with gaming and such. People keep suggesting this game is broken and mechanics need to be fixed, and I'm not sure I agree. I agree that some functions can be refined, but I also feel that in order for this game to become something bigger, it needs to change. The game needs to be designed with mobile devices in mind, because that's how you are going to get people back involved. Also, the game needs to get faster. The game is designed for someone to play once a day. I know some people log on multiple times to sell etc, but I think the majority log on once, grab, log off. Speaking from my experience, I really only have to be really active the last couple weeks while we war. The gameplay needs to be sped up. Which probably means reducing the effectiveness of a turn, and giving people 2 or 3 times the regular turn amount.

This "new version" of the game should be separate from the current servers. This new game isn't going to appeal to some old timers. And that's fine. These servers should still be here, and maybe with a new game, it will bring people into the old game.

Again, I don't think the game is broken, but what we are seeing is people who have played this game since the 2000s beginning to get bored because the amount of players has tanked. So people are looking for something else to do. Whether that's holding a grudge from something that happened years ago, or a few goobers making a bro club and having fun at others expense.

I like the game as is, but like I said, I log in once a day and I'm done with it. I like playing chess online. I'd kill myself if I had to wait for the other person to take their time making a move. That's why the options of timed matches are appealing. I think we have to view this game the same. Some people have been running the same builds forever. And that's fine, but how many times can you try to get frogger across the street?

Be gentle.

I think the new UI was supposed to be in this vein but I think it has not gone far enough in simplifying for the user. I dont know anyone who use it regularily. The only reason I ever log in on it is to undeclare war when the regular UI doesn't let me.

I think the express server is great for this but theres this problem with the balance in allowing vs forcing constant activity that EE is failing.
I also like the chess comparison because I've thought a bit about a mode somewhat like that. Like you take up to 100 turns in 2 hours and enemy then gets 2 hours to make his moves or something along those lines. That would put the strategy back into the game somewhat.

A modern UI needs to be something like lets you automate hitting and readiness turns so that mobile and PC users get to par with one another in war.

That is if fast attacking should still be a thing... which imo is a bad model.

Maybe fast attacking isn't the answer? At least not in the games current state. But then damage done from attacks would have to amplified. I think you could do this in 2 ways. 1st like I said, make attacks do more damage, but no more spamming. On the flipside, if you are at war, or attacking a country, maybe for just those turns used your expenses and food shoot up. War isn't cheap.

Maybe this game will only ever appeal to a small number of us who still stick around?

Well yea. There's a reason why no one plays super mario on Nintendo anymore. People want new. This game isn't broken. It's just old. These servers can stick around, but the game has to modernize, and be mobile friendly.

Also a new version should be called earth 2050

You cant push back the accurate date of the impending global climate apocalypse until after it doesnt happen.

Mehulstrodamus is still very in line with the doomsday clock. Let's go.
