People have been talking about this for years... Will it ever happen, or would it make facist oilers too strong?

Wouldn't make any difference unless the demand was somehow increased.

Sauron, adding oil tech will make oilers even weaker by increasing the supply of oil.

Since demand doesn't change much, it would cause oil prices to drop, compounded by having a few extra players trying it out because its shiny and new.

What you need to make oilers become an actual viable strat (that more than 1 in 20 countries will run) is to make 1 oil barrel only support 5 units instead of 25 so that demand is increased.

Oiler isn't a full-time strat, it's a side business. An oiler will never win unless no one else in the game makes oil.

If you run other strats properly you can score much higher. Unless it's a really weird oil round

ignoring the fact that food has been going at $50 all day... how do you finish out your game when demand drops through the floor on the last day? selling oil on the private market (only possible in express) is far less efficient than selling properly teched food on the pm, even for a fascist. you run oiler all the time, maybe if you ran commie/casher that often you would break your high oiler score.

food goes

5.3/acre * 2.25 tech * $29 let's say. i didn't give them any fascist bonus so i'm assuming their tech is pretty high to be fair.

anyway that's $345.8/farm

oil goes

2/acre * 1.75 fascist * x (private market sale price), say you make x be 90 like koh asked...

that's still only 315.

so no i dont think farmers would have a complaint. btw current oil private price in express is only $60... so it really sucks selling oil on private

Yeah I think it's fine as is. Everything doesn't need to be viable as a 100% dedicated strat. Allowing a better pm sale, like $90 at least, wouldn't hurt though.

I'd like to see some kind of private market sale for it because often I get stuck with a few barrels that I'd otherwise like to dump!

Why would they be too identical? One is used every turn and the other only when you attack. This would be a bad change for oilers though if there was no increase to oil needed for units... but then you would have to make sure that the other strats were hurt equally and Techer not made any stronger in comparison etc
