Man, I totally hate restarts. I think all new countries when each set starts, should have 99 construction sites already built, and 120/120 turns........... or add an extra week to each set just to get the countries set.....

You can't allow players to have full turns on a startup because it would allow people to suicide on other new countries, self-delete and do it all over again. I suppose you could put some caveats in there to disallow this from happening on self-deletions.. but then you run the risk of people creating new (multiple) accounts which can't be disabled until a moderator checks the account.

To save the game mods some hair, I just don't think it's going to happen.

Almost forgot.. There has been some discussion though about giving restarts *something* to help make things easier when you die.. I'm pretty sure it's still in the discussion stages (like so many other features people request).

Starting out from 0 really blows.

It has been the way of the game since 1996 and it really doesn't come up THAT often.. However, as I said, the idea has been on the table, but unfortunately I don't know much more than that.

You have to understand that there's only 3 main game developers who are all short on time, and there's a ton of other things that are far more important that _need_ to get done.

There's a huge code cleanup going on right now, and a new template design in the works which will allow for internationalizing the game and cleaning up the interface, amongst a huge pile of other stuff. The list goes on and on.
