Your cookies or something is messed up since

The recoding backend. Even when i log out of the portal, i can not log back into the game portal, but it logs me back into the forums using the portal login. Only way to solve this is to clear my cookies each time, and restarting my browser sucks!

works fine on FF20 32bit.

okay so you're saying if you logout... and then try to login again, it doesn't work? unless you clear cookies?

I've mainly been using chrome, I'll try FF when i get home, but I've not run into this myself...

Also the back-end changeover didn't change the way the cookies worked, just the urls...

Finally did the signature thing.

I have no issues. Using Nightly 23.0a1 (it's the alpha build of the 64-bit Firefox browser and they release a new build nightly and it self updates).

its random. lets say im logged out of everything (forums and portal)

This is what i do. It doesnt matter if i logout or not. But when i have the issue, when i use my portal login, i do not get logged into the server portal, but when i go to the forums, i am logged in.

I have to clear my cookies or close my browser (because i have it set to clear everything when i close it)

palemoon 20.01 64 bit (Firefox variant). i know how to clear cookies though pang lol. just saying, that wipes out everything else im logged into in all my other tabs.

BTW Xin, there is no nightly 64bit firefox build, it is 32bit.

There is, LittleItaly, because I'm using the 64-bit Nightly Firefox client (23.0a1 2013-04-15). Just because you couldn't find it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. :P

That's why I linked the official site in the second link...

And honestly, if the first site was a scam or contained untrustworthy download material, google would have long blocked that site and/or marked it as untrustworthy instead of being the top search result. (They receive reports from users on which sites contain malicious software and trojans and mark the search results as such.)

i know you can do this in chrome and i assume you can do it in ff, but you can delete individual cookies and not blow away what you're working on.

i did it often :p

Your bonus captchas no longer stop the server captchas, i cant login through portal, but for some reason it instead logs me into the forums only.

The log-in failure on the portal screen NEEDS to advise people to clear their cookies since that's the fix. Otherwise they won't know what's happening

confirmed, if logs out and closes portal window while browsing forums and then opens portal again then can't login again.

this still makes no sense to me, but all i can say is clear cookies, or try http://earthempires.com instead of http://www.earthempires.com or vice versa
