I have 10k acres give or take and I just had a 12 building earthquake . . . lol

I've always been fascinated by this obsession with earthquake counting. I mean, when I get an earthquake in the first couple turns when mass exploring or cashing a bunch of turns at once I cry a little inboards as well. That is, if I notice it.
Because everyone has earthquakes, I am not bothered by them. I know that when I have one, my competitor will likely have one or have already had one.

What you can do is limit your turn use to a few turns at a time as earthquakes are more costly if they bring down your production for a long time. So if you log in to 80 turns in primary and want to cash them all, don't just go to the cash room and cash them at once, cash like 10-20 at a time at most.
I also think they are good at reducing the benefit of mass exploring, which generally is very strong (read; often too strong). It's a bit weird when most of the game puts a premium on activity and mass exploring puts such a huge premium on inactivity.

build 5 turns worth of buildings and eq "gives" 3+ turns "worth" of rebuilding.
